Job description

Position Summary...What you'll do...Manages accounts and partnerships with vendors by coordinating price negotiations for parts and services with Purchasing management; interacting with vendor supplied project managers on major capital projects; influencing vendors on service and warranty processes; reviewing contracts for purchasing and projects to ensure cost, scope, and terms of condition are acceptable with senior management; auditing vendor vetting processes; and communicating with contracting team. Manages, protects, and improves Walmart assets by supporting the regional operations team during the home office budgeting development and approval process; monitoring capital spending plans and expense budgets with maintenance operations; driving reliability and improved maintenance practices, equipment enhancements, and replacements; auditing facility asset base, (for example, building structure, grounds, parking lots, material handling equipment, energy center, pump house, retention ponds); advising on condition of assets for future replacements and maintenance needs; developing annual overhaul and retrofit plans to return deteriorated and degraded facilities and equipment to acceptable operating condition; providing input to operations and maintenance to avoid future asset damage; and developing budget forecasts for five year plan and annual capital and expense budgets with maintenance management for facilities within the region. Provides leadership to the regional operating team and developing and supporting ongoing initiatives by participating in annual meetings, travel, weekly calls, coordination of operational strategy, utilization of assets to support volume changes and forecasting, and establishment of standards; developing and communicating key performance and financial indicators; managing associate issues, investigations, grassroots issues, human resource policies for the distribution centers (DC), recruiting, and budgeting; training managers on effective processes for preventative maintenance scheduling; facilitating and setting agendas for regional communications, including monthly conference calls, procedure reviews, and retrofit capital project Gantt chart development; coordinating equipment replacement decisions based on volume and flow rates to maximize productivity; analyzing equipment needs to insure maximum utilization of all assets, prior to capital budgeting; advising the home office human resource department in areas directly related to maintenance and compliance; providing input and taking part in the interviewing processes of candidates for maintenance management and Energy Center; and comparing monthly profit and loss budget accounts across the network and providing direction regarding to levels of spending. Provides support and direction for maintenance department operation in the logistics network which may include occasional travel by visiting distribution centers; working with management and other key associates to identify improvement opportunities, implement ideas, and develop corrective action plans; influencing regional teams (for example, market teams, Area Managers, Supervisors) in critical decisions; coordinating with other home office departments (for example, Engineering, Asset Protection, Purchasing and Contract Administration) to implement action plans and document results; providing direct support for maintenance manager duties when additional local coverage is required; and supporting the development of corrective action plans to resolve equipment and process issues. Ensures adherence to corporate policies in the area of distribution center (DC) maintenance management and compliance with regulatory policies and procedures (for example, OSHA, EPA, FSA, state and local authorities) by educating and training DC senior staff, maintenance associates, and regional operating teams on policies and procedures in the areas of corporate maintenance management, and regulatory compliance; guiding the development of procedures, guidelines, and tools to ensure requirements are documented and captured in the work process; communicating federal and state regulations; providing direction to senior leadership on how to achieve a compliant work environment; initiating change in Walmart maintenance operating procedures based on updates to equipment and government regulations; diagnosing areas with compliance deficiencies during DC visits; and directing the development of corrective actions. Develops new technology, processes, strategies and implements changes to improve throughput without impacting existing operations by managing facility and material handling projects to improve performance of the distribution network while limiting disruptions to operations and the distribution centers' (DC) ability to deliver freight to the stores; providing on-call support for technical issues with regard to equipment and maintenance operational issues; developing relationships with Walmart members of cross-functional departments (for example, Construction, Insurance, Regional Operating teams) to ensure communication with DC Maintenance teams; coordinating with vendors and operational teams to identify and test new technologies for process and strategy improvement; and supporting DC Operations and Maintenance teams, vendors, and home office Purchasing and Contracts team to complete contracts and required vetting process. Develops skills and abilities of maintenance management and other maintenance associates to prepare them for promotional opportunities anticipated with the continued growth of the distribution center (DC) network by assessing needs and coordinating third party training activities in DCs designed to enhance maintenance department skills; providing input to complete annual and mid-year evaluations for maintenance management at the DCs in their respective areas of control and partner with the General Managers in this process to develop an integrated evaluation; mentoring associates in leadership and project management; cross training maintenance management; developing and recruiting maintenance management candidates to support the DC network requirements; initiating relationship building activities with outside agencies and schools to support recruiting efforts; and participating in internal and external recruiting initiatives to fill staffing opportunities in the maintenance departments. Oversees maintenance department daily operations by monitoring and driving department performance related to maintaining warehouse equipment (e.g., material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, electrical systems, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration equipment, general building repairs); and monitoring and ensuring associate compliance with state and federal regulations (i.e. OSHA, Hazardous Waste, NFPA, Storm Water, DOT, etc.) relating to maintenance operations. Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events. The annual salary range for this position is $116,000.00 - $174,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
