ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: The Cal Poly Pomona Foundation is currently seeking three undergraduate or graduate student assistants to support an Agriculture Research Project.
This position will assist with one or more of the following activities: farm preparation, plant data collection, remote sensing data processing, machine learning model development, plant health assessment, algorithm development for precision farming, and the use of aerial and ground robots.
The selected students will work under the supervision of Dr. Priti Saxena, Dr. Subodh Bhandari and Dr. Amar Raheja in the Department of Plant Science, Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
This position will assist with one or more of the following activities: farm preparation, plant data collection, remote sensing data processing, machine learning model development, plant health assessment, algorithm development for precision farming, and the use of aerial and ground robots. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must be a current Cal Poly Pomona student in good standing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Majors in Plant Science, Engineering or Computer Science are preferred.
  • Must demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to meet project deadlines.
  • Must be able to work in crop field environments as part of research activities.

This position may be considered for internship credit with the approval of the student's department chair or internship coordinator.
Preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Majors in Plant Science, Engineering or Computer Science.
