POSITION SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for performing a variety of labor-related tasks associated with the acquisition, storage, and distribution of food and donated products including pulling orders, unloading deliveries, repacking food products, operating warehouse equipment, and general maintenance and cleanup.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists in loading and unloading delivery vehicles;

2. Is responsible for stocking food and non-food products in the warehouse;

3. Picks client and program orders and assists with client pickups to ensure that the invoices match the order provided to the client;

4. Ensures shrink wrap and pallet tags are neat, free of debris and legible;

5. Assists with housekeeping of both Foodbank equipment and buildings;

6. Directs and assists warehouse volunteers as appropriate;

7. Assists in verifying food safety standards are met for products and packaging materials through visual inspection, product handling, and temperature monitoring, as applicable;

8. Complies with all other aspects of the Foodbank’s food safety programs, policies, and procedures;

9. Assists the Warehouse Director with opening and closing the warehouse daily in accordance with policies and procedures;

10. Assists the Warehouse Director in with both daily cycle counts and monthly inventory, counting, and reconciliation;

11. Maintains current certifications and medical cards as mandated by Foodbank, state, and federal requirements;

12. Provides local, non-CDL driving as needed; and

• Performs other related duties, as requested or assigned.

· Must exhibit excellent customer service skills;

· Must possess good interpersonal skills, including the ability to give kind and appropriate directions to volunteers; and

· Must have the ability to maintain a level of professionalism, promoting the Facing Hunger Foodbank’s community spirit and mission.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred

· Three months or more warehouse experience and/or training preferred

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen

· Must have a valid driver’s license from State in which employee resides

· Must have and maintain a safe driving record

· Must have the ability to lift up to 60 pounds on a repetitive basis and, occasionally, up to 75 pounds

· Must have a current Fork Lift and Pallet Jack Certification or ability to become certified

· Must pass the ServSafe Food Handler Certification within 3 months of starting in position

· Must be able to master the use of the inventory software and bar code scanners within 3 months of starting position

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Office equipment: telephone, calculator, computer, copy machine, scanner, and fax machine.

Warehouse equipment: pallet jack, forklift, scales, ladders, step stools, walk-in coolers and freezers, inventory barcode scanners, infrared thermometer, and cleaning supplies, along with required personal protective equipment. [Training prior to use will be provided for warehouse equipment. Safety training and indicated safety equipment may be required and provided when the employee is performing job duties.]

The employee, from time to time, may lift and/or move objects weighing in a range of 60 to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is indoor, generally, in a warehouse setting, which may include shared space and stairs, loud noise and extreme temperatures. While performing this job, the employee may be required to work in some adverse conditions. Specifically, the refrigerated areas have temperature zones around 35 degrees Fahrenheit, and the freezer areas have temperature zones that may reach -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, the warehouse temperature may vary based on the outdoor temperature, and dust and fumes from propane-fueled equipment may be present. Lighting includes artificial and natural light. The employee in this position may be required to enter and assist in other areas of the physical plant that is an office setting. Travel outside the office/physical plant may be required for conferences, trainings, or meetings, as the need arises.
