Job description

BASIC PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  2. Seek to emphasize quality, Christ-centered relationships for both family and friends. We therefore highly encourage a strong work-life balance for all employees.
  3. Actively seek to be an individual who emphasizes a spirit of teamwork, flexibility, and quality in all aspects of daily work.

JOB SUMMARY: The Wee School weekday program combines the highest standards in early childhood education with a Christian environment of love and support. We believe teaching the "whole child". Our philosophy is that the spiritual, social, emotional, physical and intellectual well-being of each child should be encouraged and balanced. All teachers report to the Director.

  • Gather and prepare necessary materials for children's activities to provide and maintain a Christian environment in which children may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually
  • Give each child the attention needed to assure his best welfare. (This relates to discipline, eating, toileting, playing, learning, safety, etc.) Teachers are to remain in classrooms at all times.
  • Arrive 30 minutes before Wee School session begins; remain 10 minutes after each session to insure proper clean-up.
  • Keep room materials and equipment neat and orderly. Any unused supplies should be returned to the appropriate Resource Rooms.
  • Give entire attention to the children while on the playground. All teachers should supervise the entire time of the play period.
  • Assume duties in the area of eating and toileting. The areas used should be left clean. This also includes areas such as storage of paint supplies and sink used for cleaning of paint brushes.
  • Be familiar with fire escape route, emergency procedures and available first aid supplies.
  • Participate in training sessions made available to the Wee School teachers.
  • Attend all designated teacher meetings.
  • Be firm but kind with each child and treat each child consistently.
  • Become acquainted with and abide by all policies and duties of the Wee School Teachers Handbook.
  • It is understood that, as employees of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, teachers are considered as staff and should reflect this position in attitude and conversation as they deal with parents, children and co-workers.
  • Teachers are assigned to a specific age group; however, there may be times when flexibility is needed.
  • All teachers should be clean and neat in appearance and modest in dress.

    • Collaboration - Our overall mission and vision drive what we do. We work hard to destroy ministry silos and believe that we are better when we work together.
    • Development - We desire to grow and improve in our work. We strive to multiply our impact by training and developing others to follow God's calling.
