Job Title: Sitework Designer

Location: Birmingham, AL 35243

Duration: 12 months

Position Summary The Sitework Designer is responsible for developing 3D models and design drawings supporting sitework grading and drainage for industrial and power generation projects. This role involves preparing conceptual layouts, reviewing vendor drawings, and supporting cost estimation activities. The ideal candidate brings strong technical design skills, familiarity with environmental regulatory requirements, and the ability to collaborate effectively across plant, engineering, and vendor teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce 3D models and design drawings for sitework grading and drainage systems.
  • Prepare layouts and conceptual designs to support project planning and execution.
  • Review vendor drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare material takeoffs and assist with cost estimates.
  • Travel to project/plant sites as needed (approximately 25% of the time) to support design and field coordination activities.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with plant staff, design engineering teams, and vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in sitework design, civil/site engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of environmental regulations such as Ga-EPD, ADEM, MDEQ, and Florida DEP.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills across cross-functional and vendor teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Technical degree in Civil Engineering, Design Technology, or related field.
  2. 3D modeling experience.
