REPORTS TO: Service Manager
LOCATION: DeNooyer Chevy, Kalamazoo
POSITION TYPE: Full-time
STARTING PAY: $17.00 per hour
POSITION SUMMARY: The Customer Experience Assistant (Valet) is responsible for the guest experience from beginning to end by providing quality service and attention to our guests That means your smiling face will be the first things our service customers see! Customer Experience Assistants make sure that all aspects of the “first impression” are attended to because it’s the all part of the experience for our customers. If you're looking to get your foot in the door in the auto industry, this role is a great starting position to learn the fundamentals and grow into different roles!
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A professional image and demeanor – we like to put our best foot forward!
  • A valid Michigan driver’s license with an insurable driving record – we sell, service, and drive cars, it’s what we do. Non-negotiable!
  • Ability to read, speak and write English in order to fulfill job functions in an understandable way – bi-lingual folks encouraged to apply!
  • Ability to operate a computer and telephone system

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the overall quality of every customer experience from proper greeting to re-delivery. You’re the first and last face our guests see!
  • Ensures that every customer is greeted within 5 Seconds of entering the Service Lane. - Beat that, national sandwich chain with a “freakishly fast” reputation!
  • Greeting customers with a friendly and welcoming demeanor – are you sunshine on a rainy day? If so, we need you!
  • Placement and removal of plastic seat covers and paper floor mats before entering or final delivery of customer vehicle – basic, but oh-so important. We need to keep our customers vehicles in tip-top shape!
  • Maintain necessary dealership trainings
  • Assist with getting customers into rental vehicles including collecting payment, completing and reviewing rental contracts, and following the rental process established by the dealership. – Vroom, Vroom, let’s get those folks on the road again!
  • Refreshing coffee, re-stocking water, and making sure the service drive and kitchenette area are picked up – you’ll be everyone’s favorite person. Especially in the morning!
  • Washing vehicles by bringing them through the car wash – it’s a suuuuper nice car wash.
  • Follow all required safety and hazardous materials procedures as required by dealership policies and applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA and MIOSHA – we want you to stay safe out there.
  • Positively work on a diverse team – Sometimes we bug each other, but at the end of the day, we are a family.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assisting customers with miscellaneous items – sometimes it’s a furry friend, sometimes it’s a car seat, every day is different!
  • Relating positively and courteously with diverse groups of people (customers, visitors, and staff) – we love everyone!
  • Must maintain a professional image and positively represent DeNooyer Chevrolet
  • May be required to put gas in vehicles
  • All other duties as assigned (you knew this one was coming!)

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to walk and stand for 6+ hours per day. Leave the dress shoes behind!
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and stretch
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
  • Ability to work in conditions such as: varying temperatures, weather elements, noise, dust, and fumes. It’s Michigan. There’s weather. You’ll be in it.
  • Ability to move within different departments at the dealership
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays (we are closed “the day” but often open on “the eve”). Always closed Sundays.
