Job description

Job Title: VPK Teacher (CDA Credential Required)

Position Summary:
The VPK Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children enrolled in Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program. The teacher will implement engaging lesson plans, promote school readiness, and support each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while maintaining compliance with all state and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

  • Current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential in Early Childhood Education.
  • Eligible to teach in Florida's VPK program.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Successful completion of required background screening.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards.
  • Prepare children for kindergarten by fostering literacy, math, science, and social-emotional skills.
  • Create a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Maintain daily lesson plans, attendance records, and required documentation.
  • Observe and assess children's progress and communicate results with families and administration.
  • Guide children's behavior using positive reinforcement and age-appropriate discipline techniques.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
  • Conduct regular parent communication regarding children's development and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and administration to support school goals.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings.
  • Comply with all licensing, VPK, DCF, and school policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the day.
  • Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors.

Work Schedule
