Job description

Essen Health Care is the largest privately held, multispecialty medical group in New York, providing high-quality, compassionate care to some of the state’s most vulnerable and underserved residents.

Founded in 1999, we’ve grown from a single primary care office into a network of 50+ locations offering urgent care, primary care and specialty services, from women’s health to endocrinology and psychiatry.

We also provide nursing home support, care management services, and in-home medical services through our House Calls Division, Intention Health Care and facilitate smooth transitions between care settings including telehealth, in-person medical visits, and home care through Intention Health Care. Guided by a Population Health model, our team of 500+ providers deliver care in-person, at home, or via telehealth, ensuring patients get the support they need when and where they need it.

We’re looking for talented, motivated individuals to join our growing team. Whether you’re a medical provider, administrator, or operations professional, there’s a career here for you. Join us in making a real difference in the health of our community.

Senior Vice President (SVP), Operations

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Location: Multi-Site / Corporate HQ with regular travel to 52 locations

The SVP of Operations will serve as a critical executive leader accountable for the end-to-end operational performance, scalability, and standardization of a 300-provider, 52-location medical group. Operating in a dyad leadership model with clinical leads, the SVP will translate enterprise strategy into executable operating models, drive EBITDA expansion, and oversee a robust P&L across all physical footprints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Multi-Site Operational Leadership: Provide direct executive oversight for the daily operations of 52 clinics/practices, ensuring consistent patient experiences, optimized clinic workflows, and standardized clinical/administrative protocols.
  • Financial & P&L Management: Own full P&L accountability, including annual operating and capital budget development, margin discipline, and cost-structure management. Drive financial performance and operational KPIs across the entire provider footprint.
  • Standardization & Scalability: Build scalable operational infrastructure, systems, and dashboards to support rapid growth and increasing provider demand. Create a consistent operating cadence, including KPI reviews and metric-driven accountability.
  • Provider & Staff Alignment: Partner closely with regional administrators, practice managers, and physician leaders to drive provider engagement, retention, and recruitment. Cultivate a unified culture and accountability framework.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure operational processes adhere to federal, state, and accreditation standards. Collaborate with quality and compliance teams to mitigate risk and maintain regulatory preparedness across all 52 sites.
  • Strategic Expansion / Integration: Support de novo site openings, M&A integrations, and market-expansion initiatives to seamlessly fold new providers and real estate into the broader enterprise.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Business Administration (MBA), or related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive healthcare/medical group operations experience, with at least 5+ years in a senior multi-site leadership capacity (e.g., Regional VP, SVP, or COO of a large practice group).
  • Skills: Deep understanding of practice management, revenue cycle, staffing models, and matrixed operational leadership. Strong relational intelligence to navigate dyad models and lead through influence.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel regularly between the 52 regional practice locations.

Essen Health Care is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and we seek candidates who desire to work in and serve an ethnically diverse population.
