The VP of Estimating is responsible for providing executive-level leadership and strategic direction for all estimating operations for RMCI. This role drives the development and execution of estimating strategies that support Nox Group's business development goals, ensures consistent estimating standards and best practices across all operating companies, and cultivates a high-performing estimating organization. The VP of Estimating plays a critical role in shaping the company's competitive positioning, win strategy, and long-term profitability.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Organizational Development:
  • Define and execute the enterprise-wide estimating strategy in alignment with Nox Group's growth objectives and market priorities.
  • Provide visionary leadership to Chief Estimators and the RMCI estimating group.
  • Build, develop, and retain a high-performing team of estimating professionals through mentorship, performance management, and career development planning.
  • Establish a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence within the estimating function.
  • Report estimating performance metrics, pipeline health, and team development updates to executive leadership.

Estimating Operations and Oversight:
  • Provide executive oversight of the preparation and review of detailed cost estimates for major, complex, and high-value construction projects.
  • Establish and enforce enterprise-wide estimating standards, playbooks, and processes to ensure consistency and accuracy across all markets.
  • Direct the allocation of estimating resources to align with business development priorities and workload demands.
  • Review and approve estimates, bid proposals, and pricing strategies for strategic pursuits and key client opportunities.
  • Ensure all estimates meet required timelines, quality standards, and reflect current market conditions.

Business Development and Client Engagement:
  • Partner with executive leadership, business development, and operations teams to identify and pursue high-value project opportunities.
  • Lead client-facing estimating presentations, negotiations, and pre-award discussions for strategic bids and pursuits.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to strengthen Nox Group's competitive positioning.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and pricing intelligence to inform go/no-go decisions and bid strategies.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, project management, legal, finance, and executive leadership to align estimating activities with enterprise goals.
  • Facilitate communication between Chief Estimators and project teams to ensure seamless transition from pursuit to execution.
  • Represent the estimating function in executive and board-level discussions as required.
  • Champion a collaborative approach between estimating and all Enterprise Markets to ensure alignment on project requirements and client expectations.

Quality Control and Risk Management:
  • Establish and oversee enterprise-level quality control processes for bid review, estimate validation, and contract risk assessment.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop mitigation strategies for high-level risks across the project pipeline.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, legal requirements, and contract obligations.
  • Partner with legal and operations on contract negotiations, front-end document reviews, and risk allocation strategies.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
  • Champion the adoption of advanced estimating technologies, tools, and software to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and competitive advantage.
  • Drive the development and implementation of enterprise-wide process improvements across the estimating function.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging construction methods, and evolving market conditions to keep Nox Group at the forefront of the industry.
  • Provide executive leadership with insights and recommendations on business growth opportunities, market expansion, and operational optimization.

Qualifications
Experience:
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership or executive role.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading large-scale estimating operations and securing major construction projects across multiple markets.
  • Extensive experience in industrial construction sectors including data centers, manufacturing, semiconductor, and/or water/wastewater treatment facilities preferred.

Skills:
  • Exceptional executive leadership and organizational development capabilities.
  • Advanced analytical, strategic thinking, and financial acumen.
  • Deep proficiency in enterprise estimating software platforms (e.g., Sage, Bluebeam, or similar).
  • Superior written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, inspire high-performing teams, and drive organizational change.
  • Strong business development instincts and client relationship management skills.
  • Skilled negotiator with the ability to navigate complex contract and pricing discussions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
