Description POSITION SUMMARY

The VP of Engineering owns the architecture, software development, and technical execution that scale our product portfolio and customer delivery. This role leads the companyโ€™s engineering strategy, focusing on building high-performance teams, driving engineering velocity, and transitioning from independent product-led software to a unified, scalable platform. The VP of Engineering partners with product and business leadership to translate business goals into robust, maintainable, and high-quality software solutions. This is a senior engineering leadership role requiring both strategic technical vision and operational rigor. The ideal leader will build and nurture engineering talent, define technical standards, manage the software development lifecycle, and ensure our engineering function acts as a primary driver of growth and product quality.

ABOUT CARDONE VENTURES

Our mission is to help business owners achieve their personal, professional, and financial goals through the growth of their businesses. We work in dozens of verticals and provide strategic business guidance through courses, live events, partnerships, and investments. Our core values are the backbone of our business and guide our hiring process: we are inspirational, disciplined, accountable, transparent, aligned, and results oriented. This company operates nationally and is growing by the day.

SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
  • Platform architecture advances from connected products toward a managed platform, with clear ownership for shared services, APIs, integrations, infrastructure, and technical dependencies across every major sub-product.
  • Engineering execution runs on a measurable operating rhythm, including roadmap commitments, release readiness, delivery reporting, priority tradeoff management, and clear accountability across platform, product, integration, and internal systems work.
  • Observability, reliability, and redundancy improve through defined production health metrics, monitoring coverage, incident response practices, infrastructure standards, and a roadmap for eliminating critical single points of failure as the platform scales.
OBJECTIVES
  • Implement and execute the engineering strategy to transition from our current portfolio of individual product-led software products to a cohesive, broader platform architecture over the next 12 months.
  • Drive high-performance engineering operations by embedding rigorous SDLC standards, CI/CD maturity, and developer-centric productivity metrics to support the platform transition.
  • Create clear ownership and execution rhythms across engineering, ensuring roadmap governance and cross-functional accountability for platform development.
  • Ensure product and platform investments are aligned to business priorities, measurable outcomes, and scalable customer-facing delivery.
  • Oversee the reliability, security, governance, and maintainability of critical technology systems.
  • Advance the company's data strategy and align with data product product owners, including client data products, analytics, MDM integration, and enterprise data foundations.
  • Create operating discipline across Technology through clear ownership, metrics, roadmap governance, execution rhythms, and cross-functional accountability.
COMPETENCIES
  • Deep experience in engineering execution, with a proven track record of transitioning from fragmented, individual product-led software to a unified, scalable platform architecture.
  • Strong leadership across multi-disciplinary teams, including engineering, product, data, analytics, IT, business operations, and external partners.
  • Ability to translate business goals into scalable technical architecture, clear engineering roadmaps, and high-performance team structures.
  • Strong judgment around build-vs-buy decisions, vendor strategy, security posture, platform scalability, and operational risk.
  • Experience creating technology operating models with clear ownership, delivery discipline, metrics, and accountability.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with executive, technical, operational, and client-facing stakeholders.
  • High ownership, high standards, and strong ability to develop leaders who can operate independently.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • BS/MS Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a highly quantitative field (e.g., Applied Mathematics, Data Science).
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Architecture, with at least 2 years in a Lead/Architectural role focused on analytical data delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex data projects requiring significant data cleansing, imputation, and enrichment with third-party datasets (e.g., census, demographic data).
  • Medical, dental, and vision (employee + dependents)
  • 401(k) with up to 3% company match
  • Parental leave: 8 weeks fully paid (primary caregiver) / 4 weeks fully paid (secondary) + 1 month remote for both
  • Vacation and sick time that increases with tenure
  • Pet insurance through SPOT
  • Employee Assistance Program through Guardian
  • Professional development reimbursements for outside courses and certifications
  • $250K+ in internal education resources across Sales, Operations, Finance, People, and Marketing
