Position Summary

Angel Foundationโ„ข seeks a strategic, relationship-driven, and visionary fundraising leader to serve as its next Vice President of Development. Reporting directly to the President & CEO and serving as a key member of the Leadership Team, the Vice President of Development will lead all fundraising, marketing, communications, and donor engagement efforts for the organization. This executive leader will oversee the design and execution of a comprehensive development strategy that drives sustainable revenue growth, strengthens donor relationships, elevates brand visibility, and advances the mission of Angel Foundationโ„ข statewide. The Vice President of Development will lead and mentor a highโ€‘performing development and communications team while partnering closely with the President and CEO and Board of Directors, community leaders, corporate partners, and major donors to expand philanthropic support and deepen community engagement.

Key Leadership ResponsibilitiesStrategic Fundraising Leadership
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that supports organizational growth and longโ€‘term sustainability.
  • Lead all philanthropic revenue streams including:
    • Major gifts
    • Individual giving
    • Corporate partnerships and sponsorships
    • Foundation grants
    • Annual campaigns
    • Special events
    • Workplace giving
    • Third party initiatives
  • Build, manage, and maintain a strong donor pipeline through effective prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and moves management practices.
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Establish measurable fundraising goals and performance metrics while ensuring accountability across the development function.

  • Director of Individual Giving and Special Events (includes marketing and communications oversight)

Marketing & Communications
  • Provide strategic oversight for all marketing, branding, communications, and public relations activities.
  • Ensure consistent messaging that effectively communicates Angel Foundationโ€™s mission, impact, and value proposition.
  • Oversee integrated communications strategies utilizing digital marketing, social media, media relations, print materials, storytelling, and community engagement.
  • Strengthen organizational visibility and brand awareness across Minnesota and key stakeholder audiences.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a collaborative and mission-focused development and communications team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Provide coaching, goal setting, and professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Ensure departmental operations, staffing, and budgets align with organizational priorities.
Board & Community Engagement
  • Partner with the President & CEO and Board of Directors to strengthen fundraising capacity and community engagement.
  • Support and engage board members in donor cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising activities.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for Angel Foundationโ„ข within the philanthropic and nonprofit community.
  • Build meaningful relationships with donors, volunteers, corporate partners, and community stakeholders.
Systems & Operational Excellence
  • Evaluate and optimize development systems, donor databases, reporting tools, and fundraising operations.
  • Utilize data analytics and reporting to inform fundraising strategy and measure performance.
  • Ensure ethical fundraising practices and compliance with all applicable regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate across departments to align fundraising initiatives with organizational goals and programs.

Qualifications & Experience

Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in nonprofit leadership, marketing, business administration, communications, or a related field
  • Proven success in major gift cultivation and donor stewardship
  • Experience with developing and securing six figure gifts
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success leading comprehensive fundraising programs and achieving revenue growth
  • Experience managing and mentoring highโ€‘performing teams
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit marketing and communications strategies
  • Experience partnering with executive leadership and boards of directors
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience within healthcare, human services, or mission-driven nonprofit organizations
  • Familiarity with the Minnesota philanthropic landscape
  • CFRE certification or advanced fundraising credentials
  • Proven growth with a nonprofit visible within the organizations 990
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management capabilities
  • Proficiency with donor databases, CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and fundraising technologies

Compensation & Benefits

Angel Foundationโ„ข offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, including comprehensive benefits and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of adults with cancer and their families.

Salary Range: $108,000-$115,000
