Job description

Position Overview

We are a growing commercial roofing company generating approximately $5 million in annual revenue. We are seeking a strong, hands-on Vice President / General Manager to generate business, manage daily operations, drive profitability, meet quality standards, and help scale the business.

This is a leadership role for someone who can both think strategically and execute tactically. The ideal candidate understands commercial roofing operations deeply and is comfortable being involved in estimating, project oversight, client relationships, and team development.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership (Primary Focus)

  • Oversee estimating, project management, service, and field operations
  • Review bids before submission to ensure proper margins
  • Monitor job costing and gross profit performance
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, safely, and within budget
  • Improve operational systems and accountability
  • Work closely with superintendents and foremen to solve job issues


Financial Performance

  • Manage full P&L accountability
  • Develop and monitor annual budget
  • Improve gross margins and cost controls
  • Review WIP reports and job cost tracking
  • Oversee cash flow and receivables performance

Sales & Growth

  • Support and assist in closing larger commercial contracts
  • Build relationships with GCs, property managers, and owners
  • Identify new revenue streams (service & maintenance programs, coatings, etc.)
  • Help increase recurring service revenue
  • Participate in business development strategy


Team Development

  • Hire, train, and mentor key staff
  • Establish clear expectations and performance metrics
  • Build a strong culture of accountability and professionalism
  • Improve communication between field and office


Risk & Safety

  • Maintain OSHA compliance and safety standards
  • Review contracts for risk exposure
  • Work with insurance, bonding, and legal partners as needed
  • Protect company reputation and client relationships


Qualifications

  • 10+ years in commercial roofing
  • Strong understanding of TPO, PVC, EPDM, Modified Bitumen, metal, coatings
  • Experience managing projects from bid to closeout
  • Proven experience improving job margins
  • Leadership experience in a small to mid-sized company
  • Strong financial literacy (job costing, WIP, P&L)
  • Ability to lead while staying hands-on
