Summary:
The Vice President, Finance has a matrixed reporting structure to the Chief Financial Officer and the President. The Vice President, Finance is responsible for the day-to-day financial operational activities, and monitoring compliance with the system's accounting policy, as well as working with other departments to implement best practices throughout, consistent with Northern Light Health's System Policies and Practices This includes revenue and growth, expenses, costs and margin-control; and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial goal management. The VP, Finance will accomplish these responsibilities according to mission and values. Additionally, the Senior Vice President, Finance will possess a strong financial and business acumen within a healthcare organization and commitment to continual process improvement. All of the above will be possible only if the leader selected has the ability to build trusting relationships locally and within the system.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and management of the budget across Hospital and Medical Group.
  • While selected financial areas may be overseen by leadership at Northern Light Health, oversight and involvement in every aspect of finance at will be required.
  • Support a culture of citizenship and patient service, while maintaining an attitude of fiscal awareness encouraging high productivity and a continuous change process geared to "best practice" throughout the Medical Center.
  • Serve as a Senior Member of management team in all matters pertaining to financial operations.
  • Provide timely updates to senior financial management on issues and status of major projects including identification of potential risks and development of contingency plans that address issues as needed.
  • In collaboration with System accounting operations, develop, implement and monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and System policies and procedures.
  • Represents Northern Light Health to organizations within the community in the role of representative and civic leader.
  • Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial statements, documents, and reports to ensure integrity of all financial information.
  • Prepares and recommends the annual operating and capital budgets to leadership. Prepare financial statement and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations, and laws. Submits periodic and other special reports indicating the financial statuses.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within Northern Light Health, as well as the proper release of information.
  • Complies with System and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.
  • Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes, and practices.
  • Complies with policies regarding attendance and dress code.
  • Oversees the areas and staff in Financial Analysis, Materials Management, Patient Financial Services, Patient Access, Medical Group Finance Director, Physician Practice Revenue Cycle, and Health Information Management Services.
