Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Highway Engineer for immediate employment in Ridgeland, Mississippi (Jackson). The appropriately qualified applicant should be able to demonstrate an establish career in civil design including roadway. This position will be responsible for assigning Project Managers with planning, designing, and overseeing civil engineering projects, such us highways, bridges, surface drainage, and utilities infrastructure.
In this role, the Civil Engineer will assist Project Managers by performing the design aspects of civil engineering assignments.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist Project Manager by providing engineering design support (engineering reports, design calculations, quantity and cost estimates) for roadway, hydraulics, hydrology, and civil engineering design projects
  • Perform professional engineering work involving the application of standard techniques, procedures, and design criteria in carrying out routine engineering tasks
  • Be responsible for the preparation and production of reports, plans, specifications and estimates
  • Be involved in all project aspects from client meetings, design/study development and site/field visits during design and construction
  • Capable of working independently or within (or leading) a design team
  • Excellent communication skills with project team, government agencies and clients

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in Mississippi

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ProjectWise and OpenRoads
  • Experience with GeoPak and/or Inroads Drainage, HYDRWIN, SWMM, HY-8, and HEC Programs
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D
  • 4+ years of previous design experience on transportation projects including Schematic Development and Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E)
  • Experience designing highway/roadway systems
  • Experience with design software including MicroStation and GEOPAK and/or OpenRoads
  • Familiar with MS Office software (Excel, Word, Project, Outlook, Teams) is required
  • Must be a team player
