Job description

Job Title: Field Designer Location: Eau Claire, Wisconsin Type: 12 month Contract Compensation: $30.00 - $31.50 per hour Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote

Responsibilities • Design and manage electric distribution projects for new and existing customers. • Responsibilities include customer interaction, project management, field assessments, and system design using GE Smallworld (customized GIS). • Tasks include transformer sizing, underground cable routing, and pole placement. • Create, update, and revise sketches, working drawings, and contract documents using CAD or manual drafting to meet customer requirements. • Prepare documentation to support design drawings, including bills of material and schedules. • Assist engineering personnel with formal drawing transmittals and construction issues. • Read and comprehend detailed customer requirements, data sheets, and supplier specifications. • Conduct field visits and computer-based design work, with a mix of office and field activities. • Collaborate with team members in a supportive, idea-sharing environment. • Ensure safety protocols are followed during field visits to residential, commercial, and construction sites.

Requirements • Strong communication (verbal and written). • Organizational and project management skills. • Basic electrical knowledge or background. • Familiarity with Microsoft Office. • GIS or AutoCAD experience is a plus but not required. • People skills, desire to learn, adaptability, and independence. • No specific degree required; open to various backgrounds including construction, call center, police, etc. • Experience in electrical or utility fields is a plus. • No certifications required.
