Volunteer Salt Sheds are community-based locations where residents can access free road salt during winter months to help keep sidewalks and walkways safe. These sheds are typically stocked and maintained by volunteers in partnership with local municipalities or public works departments. The goal is to support snow and ice removal efforts, especially in areas where city services may not reach every sidewalk. Volunteers may help restock salt, keep the area clean, and assist neighbors with salt distribution. Participating in a Volunteer Salt Shed program is a way to promote community safety and engagement during winter.
