What is a Volunteer Salesforce Engineer?

Volunteer Salesforce Engineers are professionals who donate their time and expertise to help organizations, often non-profits, implement and manage Salesforce solutions. They use their knowledge of Salesforce's tools to customize, configure, and maintain the platform according to the organization's needs. Their work can include data migration, process automation, user training, and integrating Salesforce with other systems. By volunteering, they help organizations leverage technology to increase their impact without incurring high costs.

How does a Volunteer Salesforce Engineer typically collaborate with non-profit team members to implement effective solutions?

As a Volunteer Salesforce Engineer, you'll often work closely with non-profit staff who may have varying levels of technical expertise. Collaboration usually involves gathering requirements, translating organizational needs into technical solutions, and providing training or documentation for users. You'll likely participate in regular meetings with program managers, fundraisers, or administrative staff to ensure Salesforce customizations align with the organization's mission and processes. Open communication and patience are essential, as you'll be bridging the gap between technology and day-to-day operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Volunteer Salesforce Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Volunteer Salesforce Engineer, you need a solid understanding of Salesforce CRM, basic programming skills (Apex, Visualforce), and experience with database management, often supported by Salesforce certifications like Salesforce Administrator or Platform Developer I. Familiarity with tools such as Salesforce Lightning, data migration tools, and version control systems like Git is typically required. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative mindset help you work effectively with nonprofit teams and stakeholders. These skills and qualities are crucial for delivering impactful solutions that support organizational goals and ensure the successful implementation of Salesforce projects.

Job description

At Thrasher, we believe that fulfilling work leads to a fulfilling life. Since 1975, we have been committed to exceptional customer service. We are a family-owned residential construction company specializing in waterproofing, foundations, and concrete repair. Our ambitious nature drives our mission to deliver a "WOW" experience and challenge the status quo. We foster a work environment where employees feel valued and passionate while also creating opportunities for growth.

We're growing our Technology team and looking for a Senior Salesforce Developer to play a pivotal role in the modernization and ongoing performance of our Salesforce platform. If you're the kind of developer who gets satisfaction from untangling complexity and building things that actually work, this role was designed for you.

Compensation Package: Base salary starting at $130,000, commensurate with experience

As a Senior Salesforce Developer, you blend immediate technical debt remediation with forward-looking feature development to simplify what exists while building what comes next. You'll work alongside an internal Salesforce Administrator and in coordination with external SI partners, serving as the primary in-house developer.

Job Duties: How You Win Everyday

  • Build and maintain scalable solutions across Apex, LWC and Flow, owning Field Service Lightning end-to-end, from scheduling policies and dispatch workflow to mobile app configuration and service appointments.
  • Simplify and strengthen the platform by reducing complexity, consolidating redundant automations, and eliminating technical debt without disrupting live operations.
  • Develop and maintain integrations between Salesforce and third-party tools, building automations that reduce manual work, improve data quality and keep field operations running smoothly.
  • Set and uphold the internal development standard through writing clean, documented code and serving as the technical counterpart so SI partners, reviewing deliverables and progressively reducing outside dependency.
  • Translate operational needs into working solutions through partnering with business stakeholders in order to convert real problems into well-architected features, and explaining trade-offs clearly to non-technical leaders.
  • Operate with high ownership: proactively surface risks, drive prioritization decisions, and leave the platform better than you found it.

Qualitifications: What You Offer

  • 5+ years of Salesforce development experience with deep proficiency in Apex, Flow (including complex nested and record-triggered flows), and Lightning Web Components (LWC); (required).
  • Demonstrated Field Service Lightning expertise: scheduling policies, dispatch console, mobile app, work order management and service appointments; (required).
  • Proven experience simplifying over-engineered solutions for efficiency and performance; (required).
  • Experience with Omni-Channel routing, Enhanced Messaging/SMS infrastructure, and Salesforce automation tooling; (required).
  • Ability to execute from an architect's blueprint independently, flagging problems intelligently without constant oversight; (required).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; (ability to explain technical trade-offs to a non-technical audience); (required).
  • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I (required); Platform Developer II strongly preferred.
  • Salesforce Certified Field Service Consultant (strongly preferred).
  • Additional certifications such as Salesforce Certified Integration Architect or Data Architect are a plus.

Benefits: What We Offer

  • Medical insurance, dental insurance, flex spending, HSA, vision insurance, and life insurance
  • 401(K) Retirement Savings up to a 5% match
  • Employer paid life insurance in the amount of $50,000
  • Company-led community volunteer opportunities
  • Career growth and development

Thrasher Group and their affiliates are an Equal Opportunity Employer. All employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. We reserve the right to verify employment history, education, and any other information relevant to the hiring decision.
