About the Department
The Investment Risk Management team safeguards the integrity of Franklin Templeton's portfolios by assessing and monitoring risk across multi-asset, private-debt, and real-asset strategies. The team collaborates closely with portfolio managers, quantitative specialists, and senior leadership to guide risk-aligned decision-making. Team members operate in a globally connected, supportive environment where they gain exposure to complex portfolios, advanced analytics, and high-impact initiatives.
How You Will Add Value
Core Responsibilities
  • Lead portfolio risk analysis across public and private markets, identifying key drivers of performance, drawdowns, and concentration risks.
  • Apply and interpret core risk analytics including factor exposures, VaR, stress testing, scenario analysis, regression modeling, and performance attribution.
  • Provide risk oversight across asset classes.
  • Interpret and challenge outputs from industry risk systems (e.g., Aladdin, Barra, Axioma, Port, Intex, ADCO, YieldBook).
  • Prepare and present risk reports for portfolio managers, risk committees, and senior leadership.
  • Contribute to risk governance processes, documentation standards, and continuous enhancement of risk frameworks.
  • Proactively identify emerging risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

What Will Help You Be Successful in This Role
Experience, Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related quantitative discipline required; advanced degree (MBA, MS in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Data Science, or similar) preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in investment risk, portfolio analytics, asset management, or a related quantitative role.
  • Strong working knowledge of factor models, stress testing methodologies, VaR frameworks, and performance attribution.
  • Professional certifications preferred: CFA, FRM, CAIA, or equivalent.

Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for database navigation, data extraction, and integration.
  • Strong Python skills for data analysis, modeling, and automation.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data environments (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure).
  • Hands-on experience with institutional risk and analytics platforms (e.g., Aladdin, Barra, Axioma, Port, Intex, YieldBook).
