SUMMARY:
As Filter Design Engineering Manager in HPA, DAP BU, the successful candidate will lead a team of RF filter designers in the development of filter products using Bult Acoustic and Surface Acoustic Wave technologies, as well as non-acoustic filter technologies. Products include single function filters as well as multiple filters in integrated, multi-function, multi-chip modules, which may include other technologies such as GaN, GaAs, SOI, etc. The managed team supports a business unit focused on a variety of wireless communication applications, such as Radar, Electronic Warfare, GPS, Space, SatCom, Fixed Wireless, and other Defense or Wireless Infrastructure applications. Applying the latest RF design techniques and using Qorvo's unique process portfolio makes it an exciting task to supply our customers with real added value from our components and modules. Balancing the needs of innovation and aggressive scheduling, the candidate will play a major role in growing Qorvo's business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage and lead a team of RF Filter Design Engineers to support new product development, as well as sustaining engineering
  • Provide leadership and management of your Design Engineering team in support of both tactical and strategic organization goals
  • Work closely with Product Marketing, Product, Applications, Test and Quality Engineering as well as Project Management and Research teams
  • Analyze research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposals
  • Confer with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems that arise during the development process
  • Track progress of different ongoing projects to ensure timely completion
  • Assist in the preparation of the departmental budgets
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
  • Generate weekly status reports and technical program updates as needed
  • Conduct yearly performance assessment, goal definition and increased individual team member skill development and design knowledge
  • Continuously improve design flow, cycle time, and schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • PhD, Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics with a minimum of 3-8+ years of experience dependent upon degree
  • 3+ years direct experience in acoustic design (BAW or SAW) is preferred.
  • 3+ years of design management experience in Filter design, preferably in SAW and/or BAW
  • Knowledge of RF/Microwave theory
  • Knowledge of AWR-Microwave Office and HFSS design tools is preferred.
  • Understanding of microelectronic fabrication and high-volume manufacturing is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Self-driven, highly motivated and high energy individual.
