Job description

PURPOSE

Gain industry and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments while supporting Data Science, Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence initiatives. Work is performed under direct supervision. This internship provides hands-on experience applying data-driven solutions to business challenges through data analysis, reporting, visualization, machine learning, and emerging AI technologies. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with data analytics, data science, and AI-related projects in support of the department. 
  • Performs data gathering, cleansing, validation, and organization activities to support business initiatives, special projects, and reporting needs. 
  • Conducts data research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable business insights. 
  • Supports development of business intelligence dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Power BI or Tableau. 
  • Assists with proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives involving Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Generative AI (GenAI). 
  • Writes and executes queries using SQL and may assist with data analysis using Python or R. 
  • Participates in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and project reviews. 
  • Works with cross-functional teams to support project goals and business objectives. 
  • Assists in preparing presentations, reports, and recommendations for business stakeholders. 
  • May support data governance, master data management, and enterprise data quality initiatives. 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

  • Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Preferred senior-level student, but will consider other class levels.
  • Exposure to data analytics, SQL, AI/ML concepts, Power BI or Tableau, and programming languages such as Python or R is preferred.

  • Comfortable talking with and interacting with others. 
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
