We are seeking a Back-End Software Developer with expertise in Elastic Stack (ELK), Kafka, and modern data engineering practices to support a mission-critical Department of Defense modernization effort. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and maintaining large-scale data pipelines, streaming architectures, and cloud-native platforms while working in a fast-paced Agile environment. What You'll Do
Design, build, and maintain scalable data ingestion, processing, and transformation pipelines.
Develop and support enterprise data integration solutions using Confluent Kafka and the Elastic Stack.
Create and manage ETL/ELT workflows to support analytics, reporting, and operational dashboards.
Integrate data from multiple network operations systems into centralized platforms.
Optimize Kafka and Elasticsearch performance, including indexing strategies, query performance, storage efficiency, and throughput.
Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation initiatives.
Deploy and manage workloads within OpenShift and Kubernetes environments.
Collaborate with data analysts, visualization engineers, software developers, and stakeholders to build integrated solutions.
Document data architectures, integration patterns, technical designs, and operational procedures.
Troubleshoot complex issues related to data ingestion, platform performance, and distributed systems. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline.
2+ years of professional software development or data engineering experience.
Experience with:
Elasticsearch
Logstash
Kibana
Kafka / Confluent Kafka
Experience designing and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and distributed data architectures.
Proficiency with:
Python
Java
SQL
Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, IAM, and CloudWatch.
Experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift environments.
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
Experience using Git, Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence.
Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data quality practices.
Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting DISA, DISN, or other DoD environments.
Familiarity with RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
Experience with:

Prometheus
Grafana
Experience with AWS GovCloud or other secure cloud environments.
Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools.
Experience developing observability, monitoring, or real-time analytics solutions.

Confluent Developer or Elastic Engineer certifications. This position requires an active DoD Clearance (Secret, Top Secret, Top Secret/SCI) or the ability to be obtain an (Interim Secret, Interim Top Secret)
