Installation Technician
The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking an Install Technician to support our growing technology business. The GBS Group is a commercial and government engineering services firm with a variety of contract types. This position will focus on our commercial business, specifically rail and transportation equipment, with the schedule of Monday - Friday working between the hours of 6:00am - 3pm.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Installation Technician responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing low voltage systems and equipment, such as WiFi systems, Radio communications systems, train control systems, communications systems and security systems.
- Provide installation support for electronic systems on board rail and commercial motor vehicles
- Install, support, and maintain computer health monitoring systems on board rail rolling stock
- Design, install, and maintain rail wi-fi equipment including switches, access points, and antennas
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair GPS communications systems for rail and motor vehicles
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to customer's trouble tickets in a timely, methodical, and diligent manner
- Utilized test equipment such as Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) meters, multi-meters, network/RF cable meters, and meggers to effectively test and maintain electronic equipment and its cabling.
Qualifications
Candidates for this position must possess the following professional experience and qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years with telecommunications, WiFi or radio installations/testing
- Must have a working knowledge of automobile/rail electronics and proficiency using basic hand and power tools.
- Must be flexible enough for periodic travel and stay overnight when required
- Must be able to pass security clearance check as some access to secure locations may be necessary
- Must be able to lift packages weighing up to 70 lbs.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug test and have a clean driver's record.
Desired Characteristics:
- Has work experience as an Electrical Technician doing installation and troubleshooting.
- At least 2 years of experience installing WiFi or networking equipment onboard rail cars, public safety vehicles or buildings
- OSHA 30 certification
Pay & Benefits:
- Pay Rate: $30.00- $35.00 per hour based on experience
