Posting Summary - Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Student Assistant for the department of Neuroscience & Cell Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, assists with laboratory research investigating the neural circuits underlying navigation, and decision-making. The student will contribute to behavioral experiments in mice, neural recording and optogenetic studies, data analysis, and general laboratory operations while receiving training in modern systems neuroscience techniques. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assist with behavioral experiments in mice, including preparation of experimental equipment and data collection. Assist with neural recording, fiber photometry, and optogenetic experiments under supervision. Analyze behavioral and neural datasets using MATLAB and/or Python. Read and discuss relevant neuroscience literature and participate and present in laboratory meetings. Handle additional related responsibilities as assigned by the Principal Investigator and assigned mentor.

Grade - 99H

Salary Details - $25.00/hour

Minimum Salary - 15.92

Mid Range Salary - 75.00

Maximum Salary - 150.00

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Strong interest in neuroscience research and quantitative analysis required.

Preferred Qualifications - Experience with programming (MATLAB, C or Python) are desirable but not required.

Equipment Utilized

Physical Demands and Work Environment - Physical Demands: Sitting, standing. No special vision required. Work Environment: Laboratory environment with moderate noise.
