Shift: 8:00a.m.- 3:00p.m. Shift subject to change.
Location: Bell Elementary (part of the Juanita Learning Community)ย 
Hourly Rate: $35.19 (SC11SEIU26-27.pdf)ย Position is eligible for membership in the Lake Washington Service Employees International Union.ย 





This position is posted in accordance with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Collective Bargaining Agreement transfer process outlined in Section 15.9 The position will be posted internally for five (5) workdays. The internal posting will close on Thursday, July 16th, 2026.
Interested employees must submit an Internal Application. To be eligible for transfer, employees must meet the posted qualifications and have been in their current position for at least six (6) months. Qualified applicants will be contacted directly.
If no internal candidates are selected for transfer, the position will be posted for one (1) week to consider both internal and external applicants.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:ย  Daily program: work with special education teacher; construct a daily schedule of classroom routines and activities. Prepare and implement lesson plans Interactions with children: interact positively with all children to support their individual learning and meet their emotional needs Interactions with families: communicate regularly and respectfully with families and involve them in the education program Individualizing: make ongoing written observations of individual children. Based on information, develop a learning plan for each child within six weeks of school entry. Provide a curriculum and environment, including a multi-cultural environment, which meet the needs of every child, including those with disabilities developmental screening: after being trained on the administration of a standardized screening tool, conduct a screen, and re-screen then make referrals as necessary Recruit and train volunteers for the classroom Family support: encourage and support families in working toward the goals they have set for themselves Parent involvement: participate in, encourage and support family involvement in all aspects of the program. Attend at least one parent meeting per year Record keeping: maintain complete records on each child, stored in a confidential manner Staff training: attend staff in-service training, applying knowledge gained to ongoing work in the classroom.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Basic reading, writing and math skills, basic knowledge of computers and email, ability to communicate essential oral or written information to parents, students and colleagues in fluent English, ability to work effectively with children, families, community members and staff of diverse backgrounds, ability to relate positively to children and adults, ability to work as a team member, ability to use effective organizational and time management skills, ability to provide training and support to volunteers, and willingness to obtain a First Aid/CPR card.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: An Associate's degree (AA) or higher OR two years of study equivalent to 72 quarter credits OR an Educational Testing Service ParaPro Assessment documenting a score of 461 or higher. Official documentation will be required upon hire. Prefer one year of experience plus a CDA Certificate or willingness to obtain an ECE degree.
