Job description

HEALTH AIDE & LIBRARY ASSISTANT

Position Narrative: 

Administers first aid and prescribed medical care to students. Oversees the inventory of library books and ensures that the required textbooks are available when needed. 

Reports to:  Administrative Assistant

Heath Aide Responsibilities Include: 

  • Operates the school clinic, providing general healthcare for students. 
  • Protects the privacy of students and the clinic environment. 
  • Communicates health concerns with parents. 
  • Updates and maintains student medical records. 
  • Updates and maintains health equipment (medical supplies, AED, etc.). 
  • Coordinates and/or trains personnel on health or safety issues. 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Library Assistant Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages the textbook inventory and assignments.
  • Distributes textbooks to classrooms. 
  • Checks the textbooks in, checks them out, and manages repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory database. 
  • Keeps the textbook vault(s) neat and organized. 
  • Assists as needed in student assessment 

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:  

Excellent organizational skills 

Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters 

Excellent office administration skills; including written and oral communications skills 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, students and parents 

Ability to lift heavy loads and push heavy carts 

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint); 

Proficiency with database software; 

Excellence in time management; 

Able to maintain a calm, professional demeanor under pressure and in meeting deadlines 

Interpersonal skills 

Skilled in Microsoft Office 

Minimum work experience and education:  

High School diploma or equivalent degree and medical or healthcare experience. Current CPR certificate.
