# Assistant Director of Volunteer EngagementIslamic Relief USA Full TimeAlexandria, VASenior LevelShare:## Job Description**Position Summary:**Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) is seeking an Assistant Director of Volunteer Engagement based in the Alexandria, VA Office. This position is responsible for overseeing the volunteer management office to assist in the delivery of the organization's mission. This includes creating and ensuring the implementation of IRUSA’s volunteer engagement strategy as well as providing support to the National Volunteer manager in overseeing volunteer department staff. The candidate must show the commitment to IRUSA’s faith inspired values and principles as well as a commitment to the vision and mission of the organization.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*** Develop and implement overall strategy for the volunteer program which reflect the mission of the organization.* Assess the potential for volunteer engagement within the various internal departments.* Assess opportunities and needs for volunteers organization-wide.* Develop innovative opportunities for volunteer service throughout the organization.* Develop an annual departmental strategy in line with the long term goals of the organization.* Promote the volunteer program and significantly grow volunteer participation through public presentation volunteer projects, and other events.* Develop a budget and implementation plan for the volunteer program activities.* Conduct ongoing evaluation of the programs and services delivered by volunteers and implement improvement as necessary.* Develop, administer, and review policies and procedures which guide the volunteer programs and services, and reflect the overall values of the organization.* Reporting to upper management about the status of ongoing projects and campaigns to ensure that they are progressing according to schedule and achieving desired results.* Overseeing the performance of each volunteer team member ensuring that they are meeting their goals and standards of performance.* Assessing and updating existing programs, policies, and procedures.* Development of key performance indicators around volunteer engagement within the organization.* Interviewing, hiring, and overseeing the onboarding and training of employees and volunteers.* Resolve issues and complaints related to volunteer engagement from volunteers and staff.* Engage and participate in discussions and planning with executive and senior leadership.* Prepare an annual report on the contribution of the volunteer program to the organization.* Perform other duties as assigned.**Qualifications and Competencies:*** Master’s degree in international development, economics, sociology or other relevant disciplines.* Minimum 10 years of experience in program management in progressively more responsible roles.* Mastery of humanitarian and development frameworks and standards (CHS, Sphere, OECD-DAC, InterAction, etc.) and prior experience in program design, management, monitoring and evaluation, and in leading full proposal development process for a foundation, non-profit and/or government donor.* Strong project management, prior experience in managing grants portfolio and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.* Candidates with work experience in developing countries are preferred.* Must possess excellent interpersonal/oral communications skills, with the ability to communicate skillfully with external field offices/grantees/ the general public; must possess effective written communications skills.* Must exhibit strong analytical and problem solving skills.* Proven leadership ability and change management facilitation skills.* Proven ability to exhibit cultural competence and sensitivity to work with a wide array of ethnicities.* Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and use of databases.* Ability to travel internationally for field supervision and monitoring visits and for specialized programs’ events and meetings.* Must be eligible to work in the United States. #J-18808-Ljbffr
