Job Summary: The Receiver is responsible for all functions and paperwork relating to receiving. Must be able to operate machinery including baler, compactor, and forklift in a safe and proper manner. S/he must maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for receiving all products entering the store including verifying actual product against packing slips, confirming product integrity, and checking product temperatures as needed. S/he must initial and code invoices, log invoices, and distribute to appropriate departments. S/he is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of receiving area including loading dock and trash areas. As a PFM team member is able to exemplify Pete's Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for protecting company assets through the proper and accurate receipt and return of product within assigned store.
  • Responsible for maintaining policies, procedures and grocery standard practices.
  • Meet and/or exceed sales goals by demonstrating exceptional customer service.
  • Minimize shrink through proper utilization of standard practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of experience in grocery store or similar retail environment.
  • Must have a valid and up to date Food Handler's Certificate.

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be capable of providing and modeling exceptional customer service.
  • Must have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow-team members.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in groups.

Work Environment/ Physical Demands
  • Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
  • Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs and as required to ensure adequate store staffing.
  • Must have reliable source of transportation.

Starting hourly rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and will vary based on things like location, experience, and qualifications. All positions are eligible for Overtime, and some positions will have guaranteed Overtime available.
Hourly rate for Suburban Stores is $15-$18
Hourly rate for City of Chicago Stores is $17.05-$18
