Job description

We are seeking a Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer to join our Commercial Lines IT team.

This position can be filled as a Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. Our ideal candidate will have experience with modern web and enterprise technologies, cloud services, & microservices architectures. This role offers opportunities to work with cutting-edge digital transformation initiatives across our insurance business lines.

For this position, Sentry does not offer employment to holders of F-1, J-1, and H-1 Visas.

  • Contribute: You'll work in a full-stack, cloud-first, development environment where you'll have the chance to work in many industry-leading technologies, including Guidewire BillingCenter, Java, Hibernate, Apache Camel, CXF and Spring Boot Framework, Vue, Typescript, Javascript, SQL, Elastic, and Snowflake. As a Software Engineer, you will:

    • Engage in the design, development, and implementation of new and existing programs or solutions.

    • Demonstrate ownership over the quality of assigned tasks, preparing test scripts and conducting tests on both new and existing solutions.

    • Engage in team delivery functions such as design reviews, code reviews, and scrum meetings.

  • What it Takes:

    • Associate Degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent related work experience. Bachelor Degree preferred.

    • Minimum of 2 years related work experience. 5 or more years of related work experience preferred.

    • Demonstrated aptitude in one or more programming languages and software development concepts.

    • Ability to critically evaluate multiple options to solve complex problems.

    • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

    • Experience with Guidewire, Java and Vue preferred.

    • Values continuous learning and personal development.

    • Enjoys working in a team focused and collaborative environment.
