Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The driver creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while providing safe transportation of program participants to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Drives minibus safely according to YMCA policies, procedures, and state laws.
  • Maintains minibus in orderly and clean fashion.
  • Completes thorough checks before and after every trip, recording all information.
  • Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms.
  • Cleans minibus out each day, after last use.
  • Always promotes safety, keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
  • Announces minibus rules prior to departure for each trip.
  • Develops friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
  • Communicates regularly with other staff and supervisor.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current driver's license required.
  • Position requires a clear criminal background check to include a clean Motor Vehicle Report
  • CDL with school bus and passenger endorsements is preferred
  • 2 Years Driving experience
  • 21 years of age
  • Certifications required within 60 days of hire; CPR/AED/First Aid
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
