Job description

General Pathologist

Meritus Medical Center

Hagerstown, Maryland (USA). Meritus Medical Center Laboratory is seeking 2 full-time, AP/CP Board-certified pathologists to join our current hospital-based group of 3 full-time pathologists.  Candidates must be board certified/board eligible and able to secure a Maryland medical license.  We welcome applications from experienced pathologists and those currently in residency or fellowship training.  Additional fellowship training is appreciated but not required.

The group currently shares 16,000+ general surgical pathology cases and 2000+ non-gyn cytology cases. Surgical cases include routine GI, GU, breast, gyn, lung, and skin biopsies as well as larger associated general surgical resections. In addition, the on-call pathologist must be available for immediate assessments of frozen sections, occasional grossing issues, and general pathology questions. Oversight of a clinical pathology department such as clinical chemistry, microbiology or hematology with initial assistance from the medical director will be included in the job responsibilities.

Benefits include:

  • No grossing or autopsy responsibility.
  • No paps or bone marrows.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid malpractice insurance.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • 20 days of PTO and 7 recognized federal holidays.
  • CME leave
  • CME reimbursement
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.

Our group is collegial and supportive and encourages intradepartmental reviews of difficult cases. Weeknight and weekend call is shared evenly (most calls can be taken from home). For the interested applicant, various volunteer educational opportunities will exist through Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine (1st graduating class in 2029)!
