Description

Must sit near Salisbury, NC or downtown Chicago. If to be hired full time, the engineer will have to go onsite 3 days a week. Contractors can sit remote but they want people close enough to come in.

TEKsystems is seeking a skilled and proactive Network Security Engineer to join our customers Network Security team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructure with a strong focus on Palo Alto firewalls, Zscaler cloud security, and Aruba ClearPass for network access control. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network security principles and hands-on experience with enterprise-grade security tools. This organization is going through several major initiatives including Data Center Migrations, Upgrades, refreshes all related to these technologies. They are also embarking on their journey with Zero Trust and this person will have the chance to help impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and manage Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including policy creation, threat prevention, and traffic analysis.

Administer and optimize Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) environments.

Configure and maintain Aruba ClearPass for network access control, authentication, and endpoint compliance.

Monitor network traffic and security alerts to identify and respond to threats in real-time.

Collaborate with IT and security teams to enforce security policies and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.

Maintain documentation for network security architecture, configurations, and procedures.

Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for network-related security events.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience in network security engineering roles.

Hands-on experience with:

Palo Alto Networks firewalls and Panorama

Zscaler cloud security solutions (ZIA/ZPA)

Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager and Guest Access

Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPNs, and network protocols.

Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.

Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant certifications such as:

PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer)

Zscaler Certified Professional

Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional (ACCP)

Experience with SIEM tools, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection platforms.

Knowledge of scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, etc.) is a plus.
