What You Will Do:
The successful candidate will be willing and able to:
  • Perform comprehensive dental examinations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning for pediatric patients, including those with special healthcare needs.
  • Provide preventive, restorative, emergency, and therapeutic dental services in accordance with accepted standards of care, evidence-based clinical guidelines, and organizational protocols.
  • Evaluate and manage dental trauma, oral pathology, growth and development concerns, and behavioral management needs unique to pediatric patients.
  • Determine the need for specialty referrals and coordinate care with medical providers, dental specialists, and community resources as appropriate.
  • Educate patients, parents, guardians, and caregivers regarding oral hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, anticipatory guidance, and the importance of establishing lifelong oral health practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, medical providers, behavioral health providers, and care teams to ensure coordinated, integrated patient care.
  • Supervise and provide clinical direction to dental assistants, registered dental assistants, and dental hygienists in accordance with California regulations and organizational policies
  • Collaborate with and provide regular updates to the Chief Dental Officer regarding pediatric dental services, patient access, quality metrics, referral management, clinical protocols, patient safety concerns, and opportunities to improve care delivery and outcomes for pediatric patients.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete electronic health records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, payer, HRSA, and organizational requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review activities, clinical staff meetings, and continuing education programs.
  • Support the organization's mission to improve access to care and reduce oral health disparities within the communities served.

Eligibility: Benefits are available to employees working 30+ hours per week, effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.
Compensation Disclosure: $190,000 - $250,000
The compensation range listed reflects Elica's good-faith estimate of the anticipated hiring range for this position in accordance with California pay transparency requirements. Final compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, and qualification.
Language Skills (Preferred):
Bilingual or multilingual communication skills in English and Russian, Farsi, Pashto/Pushto, or Spanish are preferred to support the needs of the communities we serve, where more than 50% of patients report a primary language other than English.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree
  • Completion of an accredited Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program.
  • Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD)
  • Current, unrestricted California Dental License.
  • Current DEA registration and Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES) registration, as required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with underserved, low-income persons or homeless persons preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving medically underserved and culturally diverse populations.
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Additional Requirements
  • Must have a current and valid California driver's license and the ability to provide proof of personal auto insurance on the vehicle driven during working hours.
  • If selected for an employment opportunity with Elica Health Centers, external hires must provide proof of immunizations (Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella & Tetanus), tuberculosis clearance, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination status* prior to their scheduled start date. Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The work environment is characteristic of a dental clinic environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; use hands to handle or feel. The employee is also required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also possess hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
