Job Overview:

The Production Lead is responsible for ensuring the production team is trained, organized and set for the day to meet production demands. The production team cut tubes to meet customer specifications. The Production Lead determines the various unit structures, allocates resources and participates in planning and scheduling. A Production Lead trains, enforces safe work practices by communicating safety policies, ensure proper material is used, and practices with the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Machine Operations & Setup: Program, adjust, and operate saws, mandrel tube benders, and trim cells to meet engineering blueprints and job specifications.
• Team Leadership: Assign daily tasks, train new operators, mentor the team, and provide feedback to the supervisor and plant manager to optimize labor and maximize production throughput. Maintains a sense of urgency with self and the team to support customer quality and delivery expectations while achieving profitability targets.
• Quality Assurance: Verify first-run and in-process parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, Faro Arms, bend gauges) and address non-conforming materials promptly. Embrace continuous improvement activities and promote employee empowerment, while working to achieve company goals and objectives.

• Equipment Maintenance: Perform and assign routine preventive maintenance on benders and saws. Coordinate with maintenance technician for major equipment concerns.
• Safety: Enforce strict adherence to PPE compliance, safety protocols, and organizational standards in the fabrication area.

• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.
• Ability to utilize and read tape measures and digital calipers (length, width, thickness, diameter or depth of an object or hole).
• Ability to apply basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and prioritize tasks.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 1-3 years of setup and operational experience with CNC or manual draw-bending equipment, cutting cells, and end-forming.
• Manufacturing knowledge (Fluid power/tube bending) is a plus.
• Skilled in basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and use a tape measure.
• Basic computer skills for data entry.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficient with an ERP system, especially Epicor is a plus.

Certifications and/or Licenses:

• Forklift driver certified is a plus. We will provide training.

Workplace Environment:

In this production facility, it is essential to use vision, hands, fingers, and arms frequently while standing for long periods of time. Additionally, speaking often with coworkers and customers to troubleshoot and complete tasks. The individual will require fine motor skills, using fingers to operate small tools such as a tape measure and calibration tools or other controls specific to the position. Everyone must wear required personal protective equipment which may include safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, shoes, and other items as it pertains to the job duties. Able to see details or objects at a close range will be necessary for tasks while safely operating equipment, reading product labels, documents, or identifying specific items. Ability to stand for long periods of time and frequently lift or move heavy materials (often up to 50 lbs).
