Job description

SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS
The Grayson County Public Schools Volunteer Program is a community based volunteer program that allows community members the opportunity to give back to their school community. GCPS values and promotes the active engagement of the community in our schools. The program allows volunteers to assist with duties such as office coverage, recess duty, lunch duty, field trip and athletics assistance.
Please note that approval as a volunteer always begins with a 2-part background check. Apologetically, our school system does not have budgeted funds for this process.
The fee for the 2 pieces required by State and Federal regulation are to be paid by money order as follows:
$10.00 to Virginia Dept. of Social Services
$27.00 to GCPS (for fingerprinting FBI/VSP charges)
These will be collected at the Grayson County School Board office.
Money orders are available at our local post office, as well as most grocery and large department stores.
Once your application to volunteer is recieved and the background is completed the school or department administrator will approve as a volunteer pending clear background results.
Depending on the time of year, the processing of backgrounds can take from 2 to 4 weeks. You will be notified once results are in and you are able to begin.
Volunteer work assignments and duties must be approved by the Principal or staff overseeing the activity in need of voluntary assistance.
Thank you for the heart to help the students and staff of Grayson County Public Schools! We certainly appreciate the time and effort you put in!
