Position Summary

Hours - 5PM to 01:30am - Monday to Friday

THIS POSITION will be on SWING SHIFT ONLY

Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on conveyors and balers and powered industrial equipment. Raymond/Toyota/Hyster

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Perform a wide variety of duties related to the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of PDC, equipment, and fixtures.  Respond to general verbal or written requests to perform duties within and outside buildings.  Troubleshoot malfunctions to machinery and conveyors.  Use various hand tools, forklift, truck, etc. to complete duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform daily inspection of conveyor to assure proper and efficient operation as part of regular scheduled preventative maintenance.
  • Respond to conveyor malfunction or breakdown through visual or auditory inspection or as directed by Maintenance Manager. Determine likely source of malfunction and complete needed repair to minimize downtime.
  • Repair and/or replace defective shafts, bearings, sprockets, rollers, drive chains, etc., cut, replace, and retrack loose or worn belts.
  • Anticipate, remove, and replace faulty conveyor motors, determine necessary electrical and mechanical requirements.  Coordinate ordering of replacement parts with Manager.
  • Fix or replace dented warehouse storage rack uprights, cross bars, overhead doors, etc.
  • Move office furniture, prepare and paint surfaces within and outside buildings, replace lighting, etc.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends for the needs of the business.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Complete scheduled maintenance as required to roof (tar and/or patch surface and keep drains open).
  • Complete scheduled maintenance as required to HVAC (reset heating unit, replace filters, lubricate compressor and other parts, check and change worn belts and bearings, etc.).
  • Clean, inspect, and repair mechanical and minor electrical malfunctions on baler, strappers & wrappers.
  • Clean, inspect, and repair malfunctions to fire room, risers, and sprinkler system..
  • Perform other related duties as requested by Manager.


Required Qualifications

This is not an entry level position. Tech 1 is the highest maintenance level position in this Union building.

• Ability to read, write and count accurately.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently with minimal supervision.

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule or overtime as required, to include shift rotation.

• Ability to work safely with and around 24 Volt, 110 Volts and 480 Volt electrical systems.

• Ability to work safely with and around operating mechanical systems.

• Read, comprehend and interpret technical reference manuals, wiring diagrams

• Ability to work within a team atmosphere.

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems.

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical systems.

• Ability to be trained in Lock-out Tag-out procedures as an “Authorized” user.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Maintenance/mechanical experience required. 2 years proven experience.
  • Lifting: occasional medium heavy, frequent medium heavy (see appendix).
  • Frequent bending/reaching/stooping; constant walking/standing/climbing (see appendix).
  • Must be able to obtain license to operate all powered equipment within ninety (90) days.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and powered tools.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Capable of working on various repairs independently.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies anytime day or night.
  • Welding and fabrication is a plus.
  • Able to read and troubleshoot electrical systems- Must be experienced with the use of a multimeter
  • Must have own tools
  • Experience repairing and performing preventative maintenance on PIT equipment. Raymond and Toyota PIT equipment.

Rate of Pay: $34-$36 per hour + $1 shift differential per hour Level 1.
