Position Summary

Responsible for the reliable, secure, and cost-effective design and operation of RED’s IT/OT systems. Must ensure efficient and productive utilization of financial resources and IT/OT assets to minimize unplanned downtime and avoid impacting utility plant operations. Must ensure best practices are followed to implement effective cybersecurity for RED’s IT and OT infrastructure. Must follow all company procedures to maintain a safe workplace and comply with all regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure all IT and OT systems are highly reliable and cost effectively maintained.
  • Engineer networks for IT and OT systems - design and implementation of network segmentation, configuration of network switches and firewalls, identification and remediation of network vulnerabilities, designing and implementing in-house expansion and upgrades of network equipment, etc.
  • Act as owner of RED’s Operational Technology (OT) PWCS cybersecurity monitoring/backup/patching system- deploy patches to control system servers/workstations/controllers, design and implement monitoring of control system assets and network equipment, utilize existing cybersecurity tools to monitor systems, and recommend/implement additional monitoring to improve security and reliability.
  • Support other departments within RED that require new software applications/tools - vet new tools for security and functionality with existing systems, design integrations with existing systems and support implementation of new applications.
  • Coordinate external vendors to perform annual IT cybersecurity assessments and penetration testing. Work independently and with other IT staff to remediate physical, network, server, application, and end-user issues identified during testing.
  • Manage vulnerability scanning tool and remediate issues identified by the tool.
  • Develop disaster recovery plans for IT network, IT applications, Windows Hybrid 365 environment, and OT network. Perform periodic disaster recovery exercises.
  • Administer RED’s Windows Hybrid M365 environment and Intune device management.
  • Manage RED’s various IT & OT servers (both physical and virtual, both Windows and Linux operating systems).
  • Administer company-provided cell phones and VOIP phone system.
  • Administer security camera system and provide front-line troubleshooting for camera issues.
  • Administer physical access control system and provide front-line troubleshooting for access control issues.
  • Develop and implement effective IT Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs to improve equipment reliability (patching, hardware cleaning, periodic upgrades, etc.)
  • Administer nearly all cloud-based and locally-hosted applications used by the company: VelocityEHS, TagsPro, Bluebeam, M365, OSIsoft PI system, Maximo, CompliantPro, ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, CEMS, etc.
  • Along with other IT staff, act as support escalation point when our MSP helpdesk is unable to resolve end-user issues. (Users are directed to our MSP for basic/primary helpdesk support to free up our internal IT team to tackle more complex issues.)
  • Assist Manager and I&C Engineers in building monitoring of plant, network, and control system assets in OSIsoft PI system.
  • Manage and implement small and medium-size IT system projects. Must be able to marshal the people and resources needed to successfully plan, schedule and execute projects on time and on budget.
  • Assist manager in developing future budgets and managing current year IT team budget.
  • Build detailed documentation of all IT and OT systems and networks.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (in related discipline such as Computer Science, Network Administration, Cybersecurity, Statistics, Science or Engineering), OR an equivalent combination of education & additional experience (such as an Associates’ degree, relevant training in the US Military, etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience with Windows domain environments/Microsoft 365, server VM administration, end-user desktop support, and network administration.
  • Operational Technology system experience (networking for SCADA or DCS) strongly preferred.
  • Current CompTIA A+ holder (or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment), current CCNA holder (or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment) and current CCNP holder (or ability to obtain within 2 years of employment)
  • OSIsoft PI data collection system experience is a plus.
Competencies

Work Environment
  • A combination of office, server room, and heavy industrial park conditions.
  • Must go in-the-field to support employees where they work with IT equipment – typically office or shop spaces, but occasionally includes areas deep inside utility plants. Work takes place in areas that are noisy and which may be very dirty.
Physical Demands
  • Able to operate computer keyboard, printers, copiers, etc.
  • Visual and hearing ability.
  • Able to move between buildings in Eastman Business Park which may require climbing multiple flights of stairs from time-to-time.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and willingness to use a company or personal car to travel about Eastman Business Park which covers approximately 5 square miles.

Compensation

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, RED-Rochester provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $120,000 to $155,000 annually. This position is also eligible to participate in the Company's annual bonus program.
