A Voice User Interface (VUI) Designer is responsible for creating and optimizing voice-based interactions between users and technology, such as voice assistants, smart devices, and interactive voice response (IVR) systems. They focus on designing natural and intuitive voice experiences, ensuring clarity, efficiency, and user satisfaction. This involves tasks like crafting conversation flows, writing voice scripts, and working with speech recognition and natural language processing (NLP) technologies. VUI Designers collaborate with UX designers, developers, and linguists to refine voice interactions based on user research and testing. Their goal is to create seamless, engaging, and accessible voice experiences that enhance user interaction with technology.
Voice User Interface Designers often encounter challenges related to designing for conversational ambiguity, interpreting user intent accurately, and ensuring accessibility across diverse user groups. You may need to constantly iterate on conversation flows based on user feedback and data analytics, handle limitations of voice recognition technologies, and collaborate closely with developers, researchers, and product managers. Job DescriptionIDS is seeking an experienced Senior UX/UI Designer, for ADG Creative, an IDS subsidiary, to lead user experience strategy, design execution, and team development across complex systems and products. This role is responsible for driving high-quality user-centered design solutions, establishing UX standards, and mentoring design staff while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key Duties• Lead, manage, and mentor UX designers, providing direction and supporting professional growth
• Define and communicate UX strategy and vision across a portfolio
• Develop and maintain design systems to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency
• Facilitate design workshops and sprints to enhance collaboration across teams
• Conduct user research and develop journey maps, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes
• Advocate for end-users by identifying workflows, pain points, and needs
• Define and refine UX processes, integrating Human-Centered Design within Agile development
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements• Master’s degree in a related field
• OR Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of experience
• OR Associate’s degree or High School Diploma with 16 years of experience
• Minimum 10 years of experience (aligned to the education substitution structure above)
• Portfolio required
