Job description

Position Title: Installation & Repair Technician

Location: Fort Knox, KY

Clearance Type: SECRET

Compensation: $31.79/hr.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all administrative, operations and maintenance (O&M) functions, and routines required on Inside Plant (ISP) systems and equipment, including telephone switching equipment, voice mail system, Telephone Management System (TMS), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) programming, firewall and other ancillary equipment and systems directly connected to the switch.
  • Installs, tests, troubleshoots, programs, monitors, maintains, and repairs digital switching equipment, attendant consoles, power and ringing relay racks, miscellaneous telephone, radio, fire alarms, intrusion alarms, and other circuits and related apparatus required in the central switching office.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on switch hardware and equipment.
  • Resolves customer trouble calls related to voice issues.
  • Analyzes system failures and other unusual system occurrences to isolate the source of the problem and determine whether the failure is caused by software, hardware, or other factors.
  • Maintains manual and/or computerized central office records, including detail records, traffic analysis records, cable records, line records, subscriber service records, and spare parts inventories.
  • Support includes performing remote diagnostics, parts and material repair or replacement, emergency technical support, and technical documentation updates.
  • Maintains synchronous optical network.
  • Diagnoses and replace faulty switch circuit packs and switching equipment.
  • Installs and troubleshoot T-1 circuits.
  • Monitors and troubleshoot trunks.
  • Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns and answering questions.
  • May assist with work order and trouble ticket administration within the Telephone Management System (TMS).
  • Maintains safe work environment and conditions by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
  • Provides other duties as assigned to support contract requirements.
  • Attends training sessions as required (DoD, Information Assurance, Security, Corporate).

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License.
  • BICSI installer 1 qualifiedย 
  • OSHA Confined Space

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Five years of ISP experience on maintenance, installation, testing, and repair of telecommunications equipment and systems
  • Knowledge and experience with Avaya and VoIP communications systems
  • Detailed orientated and highly efficient organizational skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
