Job description

Job Title: Musical - Vocal Coach

 

Purpose:
To provide students and adults with the opportunity to develop their vocal skills as part of the school musical production. The Vocal Coach will oversee all vocal components, offering individual and group coaching, scheduling rehearsals, and collaborating with the stage director to ensure the musical performance's vocal quality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee and coordinate all vocal aspects of the production.

  • Collaborate with the stage director regarding staging elements that affect vocal performance, including volume and projection.

  • Schedule and lead all vocal rehearsals, including small chorus and ensemble rehearsals, in coordination with the stage director.

  • Attend auditions and provide input on vocal casting decisions.

  • Provide weekly, after-school vocal coaching lessons to soloists.

  • Be present during early scene rehearsals to assist with vocal direction.

  • Conduct full company vocal rehearsals during the final two weeks prior to the production.

  • Direct vocal performances during all shows.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Strong background in vocal coaching and musical theater performance.

  • Experience working with soloists, small groups, and choruses.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with directors and production staff.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Availability for after-school, evening, and weekend rehearsals and performances.

  • Prior experience coaching vocalists in a school or community theater setting preferred.
