About Matouk

Founded in 1929, Matouk is a maker of finely crafted linens and home accessories for passionate and discerning consumers around the world. The Matouk name stands for more than a business; it represents three generations of our family realizing a dream. It also stands for our larger family – our inspiring and talented employees and our partner suppliers around the world – who are committed to carrying out an authentic and extraordinary tradition.

Summary

Matouk is seeking a Head of Visual Merchandising to lead the visual expression of the brand across all physical touchpoints, including the House of Matouk, our New York and Atlanta showrooms, wholesale partners, and independent retailers.

Reporting to the SVP, Head of Brand, this person will work closely with Matouk’s founders and senior leadership to translate their creative vision and deep product knowledge into a cohesive visual merchandising strategy and clear standards that can be consistently executed across a wide range of environments.

The ideal candidate combines exceptional taste and a strong understanding of the home category with the ability to create structure, tools, and processes. This person should be highly collaborative, hands-on, organized, and comfortable moving between big-picture creative thinking and the details required to execute beautifully.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own Matouk’s visual merchandising strategy and standards across all physical brand touchpoints, including the House of Matouk, New York and Atlanta showrooms, wholesale partners, independent retailers, markets, and special installations.
  • Partner closely with Matouk’s senior leadership to translate creative vision and product priorities into clear, actionable visual direction.
  • Define and codify Matouk’s visual standards for product presentation, bed and bath styling, color stories, fixtures, signage, props, and overall environmental presentation.
  • Create practical visual merchandising guidelines, seasonal directives, and tools that enable internal teams and external partners to execute Matouk standards consistently.
  • Lead the ongoing visual merchandising of the House of Matouk and New York and Atlanta showrooms, including seasonal resets, product launches, windows, and key customer moments.
  • Develop scalable visual merchandising strategies for Matouk’s wholesale network, from major partners such as Bloomingdale’s to independent specialty retailers.
  • Partner with Sales on priority doors, shop-in-shops, new installations, and seasonal updates, and regularly review execution in the field to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Concept windows, seasonal installations, pop-ups, events, and other physical brand moments that bring Matouk’s product and seasonal priorities to life.
  • Lead visual planning and execution for markets, trade shows, and key selling moments, including floor plans, product presentation, display concepts, and on-site styling.
  • Partner across Brand, Creative, Product, Sales, Retail, and Interior Design to ensure visual merchandising supports both brand and commercial priorities.
  • Establish clear processes for communicating visual direction, training teams, and maintaining standards across Matouk’s retail and wholesale network.
  • Manage visual merchandising projects from concept through execution, including budgets, timelines, vendors, fabricators, props, fixtures, and installation partners.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of visual merchandising, retail design, styling, or related experience, ideally within luxury home, interiors, textiles, furniture, or a premium lifestyle brand.
  • Strong understanding of the home category and how to merchandise and style product within residential and retail environments.
  • Exceptional visual taste with the ability to translate a brand point of view into compelling physical experiences.
  • Experience developing visual merchandising standards, guidelines, and scalable tools, not simply executing individual installations.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring structure and consistency to a growing visual merchandising function.
  • Strong strategic thinker who is equally comfortable being hands-on — from developing a seasonal concept to styling a bed or troubleshooting an installation on site.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a highly collaborative working style.
  • Ability to listen closely to founders and creative leadership, understand their vision, and translate that vision into clear direction that others can successfully execute.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience working across owned retail, showrooms, wholesale partners, and independent retailers strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with SketchUp, CAD, Vectorworks, or similar spatial planning tools is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly for showroom resets, markets, installations, and key retail partner visits.

Key Success Measures

  • A clear, codified Matouk visual merchandising system that can be consistently understood and executed across owned and wholesale environments.
  • Elevated and more consistent presentation of the Matouk brand across the House of Matouk, showrooms, wholesale doors, and independent retailers.
  • Strong seasonal concepts and physical brand moments that bring Matouk’s product and marketing priorities to life.
  • Effective tools, processes, and partnerships that enable teams to execute at a high level with greater consistency and efficiency.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive base salary, annual bonus eligibility, medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off and holidays, and an employee discount on Matouk products.
