Position Summary

The Client Services Representative, Visual Arts is responsible for day-to-day operations of the gallery, providing assistance for administrative tasks, exhibition preparation and visitor services as well as assisting in the planning and development of engaging visual arts programs for diverse community groups. The Client Services Representative will collaborate with participants of varying ages and skill levels to create a dynamic and inclusive environment that supports the municipality's cultural and recreational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, installation, and sales of art exhibitions and displays.
  • Answer visitor enquiries related to the gallery, exhibitions, and displays.
  • Perform administrative tasks and assist with the sale of artwork.
  • Engage with participants to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Manage program materials, supplies, and equipment, ensuring they are properly maintained and organized.
  • Collaborate with municipal staff and community organizations to support art-related initiatives and events.
  • Promote programs through community outreach, social media, and partnerships with local artists or organizations.
  • Provide support in organizing, promoting, and handling gallery events, exhibitions, and presentations.

Position Requirements

Education & Certifications:

  • Diploma in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art Education, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in visual arts instruction, program facilitation, community arts programming, or equivalent work experience in the visual arts field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Artistic Expertise: Strong knowledge of various visual arts techniques, mediums, and instructional methods.
  • Instructional Skills: Proven ability to teach and inspire individuals with varying levels of artistic experience.
  • Creativity: Ability to develop innovative programs that engage participants and encourage creative exploration.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with participants, staff, and community members.
  • Organization: Strong ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple programs simultaneously.

Working Conditions

  • Standard business hours, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required based on program schedules and special events.
  • This role involves potential exposure to chemicals used in visual arts programs.
  • Cognitive demands include engaging participants respectfully and inclusively to create a positive learning or cultural experience and adjusting plans or resources quickly when there are last-minute changes to exhibitions, events, or staff availability.
