Primary Purpose:

The Computer Support Technician plays a vital role in keeping school campuses connected and learning uninterrupted. The primary focus of this role is delivering immediate, high-touch technology support to teachers and instructional staff to ensure classroom technology functions seamlessly. Secondarily, this position provides technical assistance to campus administration, office personnel, facilities/custodial staff, and other district personnel.

Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Tech Maintenance: Deploy laptops, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain teacher classroom setups, including 86" interactive flat panels/TVs, port replicators, secondary monitors, and teacher laptops.
  • Rapid Response Support: Provide urgent desk-side response during instructional hours to resolve classroom audio/visual, display mirroring, touch-screen, and connectivity issues to minimize lesson disruptions.
  • Hardware & Software Integration: Assist teachers with peripheral connectivity, software issues, digital learning tools and document cameras.
  • Administrative & Staff Hardware: Install, maintain, and repair workstations, laptops, tablets, and peripherals for office staff, campus administrators, maintenance/custodial personnel, and auxiliary staff.
  • Operational Tech Support: Support specialized hardware used by non-instructional staff (e.g., work-order handhelds, front office visitor check-in stations, time clocks, and label printers).
  • Basic Network & Telecom: Perform basic troubleshooting for campus network connections (Wi-Fi and Ethernet drop tests), digital signage, district-issued cell phones, and VoIP office phones.
  • Printers & Shared Equipment: Assist with setting up and troubleshooting network copiers, desktop printers, and shared workroom equipment.

  • Customer Service Orientation: Strong empathy and patience when working with educators and non-technical staff under time-sensitive pressures.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly diagnose tech failures and implement immediate workarounds or long-term fixes.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Certifications in A+ and Network+ are preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 13 years of experience providing hardware, software, and peripheral support (experience in a K12 public or private school environment is a strong plus).
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Strong understanding of multi-display configurations, USB-C/Thunderbolt docking stations, HDMI/DisplayPort protocols, and OS settings (Windows/ChromeOS).
    • Diagnostic skills for desktop/laptop, and Chromebook hardware, operating systems, and standard software (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
    • Basic networking knowledge (IP addresses, DHCP, DNS, wireless troubleshooting).
