Job description

Teach undergraduate Visual Arts courses as needed during the academic year.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts or a related field required. Graduate study or advanced degree is preferred but not required. Equivalent professional experience in the arts will be strongly considered. 

Experience:

  • Considerable professional experience in studio art or a related visual arts field required.

  • Teaching or mentorship experience preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in relevant media, methods, and tools for area(s) of instruction (traditional or digital).

  • Familiarity with Blackboard, Canvas, or comparable LMS is a plus.

  • Strong communication and critique skills, with the ability to mentor students in both technical craft and creative development.

  • Reliable, collaborative, and able to model professional standards for students preparing for careers in the arts.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and adapt curriculum to reflect current practices in visual arts.

  • Guide students in projects that strengthen artistic skills, creative thinking, and portfolio development.

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback that encourages growth and experimentation.

  • Participate in department orientations and trainings as needed.

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support program goals and student success.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Department Chair.
