Job Summary
The Team Lead is a working leader responsible for guiding a small team of 8-10 operators or technicians through daily production tasks. While remaining an active contributor on the line, the Team Lead ensures work is completed on time, to standard, and escalates issues that impact flow, safety, or quality. This role plays a critical part in meeting takt time and fostering adherence to standard work practices.
Essential Functions
  • Work alongside operators to execute daily tasks within assigned station or cell.
  • Monitor team adherence to takt time and schedule, escalating risks or issues to the Work Center Supervisor.
  • Provide peer coaching, task coordination, and informal training support to newer or less experienced team members.
  • Assist in managing material readiness, tool availability, and workstation organization (5S).
  • Support quality checks and ensure standard work instructions are followed; report any deviations.
  • Lead daily team huddles, communicate shift goals, and update production boards as needed.
  • Model safe work behaviors and reinforce safety policies among peers.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and problem-solving activities led by the Supervisor or Operations Manager.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of production or assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated reliability, teamwork, and performance in a hands-on role.
  • Strong understanding of standard work, quality expectations, and takt time principles.
  • Good communication and peer leadership skills.
  • Willingness to support and coach others while performing production work.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Lean tools (5S, standard work, visual boards)
  • Peer mentorship or informal training
  • Light troubleshooting or escalation awareness
  • Basic familiarity with ERP or work instruction systems
