Optical Assistant – Optometry Practice

Express Vision is looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Optical Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with patients and is interested in learning and growing in the optical field.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients in a friendly and professional manner
  • Help patients select eyeglass frames
  • Assist with basic frame adjustments and dispensing glasses
  • Learn lens options and help educate patients on their choices
  • Verify vision insurance benefits and explain patient allowances
  • Place and track eyeglass and contact lens orders
  • Answer phones and schedule appointments
  • Collect payments and assist with checkout
  • Maintain an organized and clean optical area
  • Assist the optician, doctor, and front-office team as needed

Qualifications:

  • Optical experience is preferred but not required; we are willing to train the right person
  • Previous customer service, retail, or medical office experience is a plus
  • Friendly and comfortable interacting with patients
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable
  • Comfortable learning computer systems and insurance procedures
  • Able to multitask in a busy office
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
