Vision Insurance information

What is vision insurance?

Vision insurance is a type of health coverage specifically designed to help you pay for eye care services, such as routine eye exams, prescription glasses, and contact lenses. Unlike standard health insurance, vision insurance typically focuses on preventive eye care and discounts on eyewear rather than covering eye diseases or medical procedures. Most vision insurance plans work through a network of eye care providers and may offer benefits like annual exams, discounts on frames and lenses, and reduced prices for corrective vision surgery.

What are the typical responsibilities of a vision insurance specialist on a daily basis?

A Vision Insurance Specialist typically assists clients in understanding their vision benefits, processes insurance claims, verifies coverage details, and resolves billing issues. They frequently communicate with both patients and insurance providers to ensure accurate processing of claims and to answer benefit-related questions. Additionally, they may help with pre-authorizations for services, maintain up-to-date records, and support the administrative staff within optometry or ophthalmology practices. Collaboration with optometrists, billing teams, and front-desk staff is common to deliver seamless patient experiences.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a vision insurance specialist role, and why are they important?

To excel as a Vision Insurance Specialist, you need a solid understanding of insurance policies, billing procedures, and optometric terminology, typically supported by experience in healthcare administration or insurance. Familiarity with claims processing software, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and insurance verification tools is essential. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication set top performers apart when interacting with patients and providers. These skills ensure accurate claims management, efficient workflow, and excellent customer service in a highly regulated environment.

Job description

Are you competitive, motivated, and ready to build serious income in insurance sales? Join our Austin team as an Insurance Sales Producer and become part of one of the insurance industry's top leaders — selling home, auto, commercial, and life insurance to real clients who need real coverage. We provide the training, tools, and support to help you close deals, while you bring the drive and hustle to make it happen.

This role is all about the hustle of sales: just you, a strong team around you, and a steady stream of leads to fuel your pipeline. You'll spend your days connecting with real people, understanding their needs, and matching them with coverage that actually protects what matters most to them. If you love the thrill of closing deals, building relationships, and getting rewarded directly for your performance, this is your seat — the harder you work, the more you earn, with no cap on what you can achieve.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Prospect and generate new business through outbound calls, referrals, and provided leads
  • Build genuine rapport with clients to understand their insurance needs across home, auto, commercial, and life coverage
  • Present tailored insurance solutions and clearly communicate coverage options, pricing, and benefits
  • Manage a sales pipeline from initial contact through to close, following up consistently with prospects
  • Use CRM tools to track leads, log client interactions, and stay organized throughout the sales cycle
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales goals and performance targets
  • Maintain strong product knowledge to answer client questions and address objections confidently
  • Provide excellent customer service to build long-term client relationships and generate referrals
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to share best practices and support overall team goals
  • Stay current on industry trends, carrier products, and state licensing/compliance requirements
Requirements

Who we're looking for

  • Motivated and competitive — you want to win, and you're driven to hit and exceed your goals
  • Strong integrity and work ethic
  • Great communicator who enjoys working with people and can build genuine rapport quickly
  • Team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and adapts easily to change
  • Resilient and coachable — you can handle rejection, learn from feedback, and keep pushing forward
  • Self-starter who takes initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do
  • Goal-oriented with a strong desire to grow your income and advance your career over time

Preferred

• Sales experience

• Customer service experience

• Call center or lead follow-up experience

• Experience using CRM systems

Required

• Must have, or be willing to obtain, an insurance license

• Must be able to pass a background check

• Reliable transportation to and from the office
