MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current national certification appropriate to discipline (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA).
- PMHNP or relevant behavioral health certification preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.
- Experience in outpatient behavioral health, crisis intervention, or integrated primary care settings preferred.
- Prior experience delivering care via telehealth/virtual platforms preferred.
- Demonstrated experience using electronic health records (Epic preferred).
Licensure & Certification
- Current State of Oklahoma license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant, or ability to obtain prior to employment.
- Current DEA registration.
- Eligible for Medicare/Medicaid enrollment.
- BLS required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of ambulatory, urgent care, and virtual care delivery modes.
- Strong clinical judgment in psychopharmacology and the management of common mental health conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders).
- Knowledge of virtual care delivery modes and telehealth-specific regulations.
- Experience working in team-based care environments and coordinating care across disciplines.
- Ability to balance clinical care, documentation requirements, and operational efficiently.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills; ability to navigate sensitive patient interactions via video/phone with empathy and de-escalation techniques.
- Proficiency with electronic health records; Epic experience preferred.
JOB SUMMARYThe Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – On-Demand Clinic provides timely, high-quality, patient-centered care exclusively through a telehealth model, with a specific focus on addressing behavioral health needs and acute medical concerns. This role is designed to deliver episodic care and behavioral health interventions via virtual encounters, serving as a primary remote access point for patients in need of care coordination, assessment, and short-term management. Care delivery and documentation are performed in accordance with MCNDOH policies and procedures, applicable State and Federal regulations, and accepted standards of practice for virtual medicine.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is performed remotely within a dedicated virtual health environment. Frequent interaction with patients occurs via video and/or telephone platforms. The provider may encounter patients who are distressed, acutely ill, or experiencing behavioral health crises while navigating the limitations of a remote setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSOn-Demand Clinical Care (Telehealth)
- Provides virtual evaluation and treatment for patients presenting with behavioral health concerns, including remote assessment, depression/anxiety screenings, and medication adjustments.
- Provides evaluation and treatment for patients presenting with acute, episodic medical conditions appropriate for virtual care (e.g., respiratory infections, minor rashes, and other low-acuity concerns).
- Conducts all visits via telehealth platforms as designated by clinic operations.
- Facilitates virtual behavioral health interventions and brief supportive therapy for patients in acute distress.
- Provides patient education focused on symptom management, follow-up care, and appropriate use of behavioral health and health system resources.
- Documents all patient encounters accurately and timely in the EHR in accordance with established policies.
- Prescribes medications and orders diagnostic studies within scope of practice and virtual care guidelines.
- Identifies conditions requiring escalation to in-person care, intensive outpatient programs (IOP), specialty psychiatric referral, or emergency services.
- Works collaboratively with nursing staff and care coordinators to ensure seamless patient transitions from virtual to in-person services when necessary.
Quality, Safety, and Administrative Duties
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives related to telehealth efficiency, behavioral health integration, and patient experience.
- Maintains awareness of referral procedures, Contract Health Services, and community mental health resources.
- Attends required meetings and trainings.
- Complies with all MCNDOH policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
