Position Description
Posting Number 01016 Position Title Student Tech - Link Department Academic Support: Link Position Summary

The Student Tech - Link works in the Academic Link to provide academic support to their SU undergraduate peers. The Student Tech will attend weekly classes with the students enrolled in the course, will facilitate sessions outside of class to review material, and will hold three hours per week for office hours and planning.

Education/Experience

Current enrolled Stevenson University student in good standing with the University academically, and judicially with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Prior experience as an Academic Link tutor and CRLA training are preferred. Requires a grade of A or A- in the subject (unless otherwise approved by the hiring manager) and a recommendation from a faculty member.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability

Demonstrated academic success in course(s) they tutor and in overall coursework.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Hard working and goal-oriented attitude towards academics and co-curricular undergraduate experiences.

Demonstrate reliability by attending all scheduled sessions or communicating in advance of any cancellations.

Must exhibit competency and enthusiasm for the material covered.

Time management and planning skills.

Physical Requirements

Light work: including the following physical activities: reaching, standing and/or sitting, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, keyboarding, talking, hearing. Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as viewing a computer terminal.
Working conditions are primarily inside.

Essential Functions

Attend weekly classes to stay informed on content and teaching style.

Plan and submit weekly lesson plans for out-of-class review sessions.

Facilitate review sessions to facilitate and reinforce student learning of course content.

Attend and/or complete in-person and/or virtual training workshops, sessions, and modules.

Meet with faculty member on a weekly basis to identify key areas to focus on in review session.

Meet with supervisor at least once a month to discuss issues and collaborate on solutions.

Incorporate principles covered in training when working with students in review sessions.
