• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying their unique emotional and psychological needs.
• Provide one-on-one and group counseling that addresses a spectrum of issues, including grief, depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders.
• Engage in collaborative care planning with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to create holistic support systems tailored to each geriatric resident.
• Educate family members and caregivers on strategies and tools to foster emotional stability and improve overall family dynamics.
• Facilitate specialized counseling sessions that help patients and their families navigate end-of-life concerns with empathy and support.
• Continuously evaluate and document client progress using evidence-based practices and methodologies.

As a Mental Health Counselor specializing in geriatric care, you will work closely with senior residents who are often grappling with loss, significant life transitions, and age-related mental health issues. This role requires a deep understanding of the unique emotional landscape and challenges faced by older adults, which necessitates patience, empathy, and cultural sensitivity to cater to diverse backgrounds within our community.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required.
• Current active licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Florida.
• A minimum of two years of recent experience specifically in geriatric counseling and mental health support.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records and various therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

• Experience in providing counseling services to elderly individuals dealing with complex mental health challenges.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention strategies and grief counseling.
• Background in working within community health settings or similar environments aimed at addressing the needs of aging populations.
