Job description

Yorkville High School is seeking a dynamic and passionate High School Math teacher who has experience in the classroom. We are seeking to hire a teacher who maintains a positive learning environment centered on high academic expectations, creating a student-centered classroom while building rapport with students, parents and staff. We are looking for exceptional candidates who will assist our school in becoming an exemplar as it relates to seeking and implementing strategies for improving student achievement and growth for all students. This person will work collaboratively in professional learning communities in the Applied Math Division to achieve goals with a common purpose focused on student learning.

Position Purpose
To facilitate student success and growth by implementing district-approved curriculum, addressing the specific educational needs of individual students, and by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment. In accordance with the strategic plan and the mission and vision of the Board of Education, successful candidates are able to provide meaningful feedback to students, parents, and administration and facilitate the academic and emotional growth of students.ย 
Essential Performance Responsibilities


  • Develops and administers school high school math curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a virtual classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the District.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment.
  • Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing protocol.

Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the program administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications Profile



  • Certification/License: Professional Educator License (PEL) with High School Math Certification

Education

  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Secondary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

Experience

  • Possesses strong content knowledge/experience in Algebra/Geometry/Pre-Calculus
  • Candidates possessing the credentials to teach/deliver dual credit is highly desired but not required
  • Prior experience teaching in a blended delivery model is highly desired but not required
